There are certain patterns that should never be combined together while there are other patterns that match perfectly together so how to you avoid the ultimate plunge of too many patterns and keep things looking perfectly elegant.

When you are considering combining various patterns you’ll right away want to know that when you are combining two or more patterns together you want them to come off with different intensity scales. What we mean by this is when you are placing a bold floral print into a room you will want to use a pattern that is a lot less bold such as a narrow stripe. Ensure that the colors within both patterns are similar and not contrasting as this could end up being too much for the room overall.

Using multiple patterns within a room may be a little frightening for some but it is actually a very doable option. You could consider using the same patterns in certain things such as the pillows and curtains; yet have a completely different pattern on the walls and flooring. There are endless possibilities with what you can do with patterns as long as you avoid the contrast of the patterns.

Many designer stores will help you by allowing you to compare the patterns you have within your room already with the options that you are considering adding on whether it’s fabric for the curtains and pillows or a new flooring option. Usually they have samples that you can borrow or books so you can put the samples up to what you have and get a better visual appeal of things.

Patterns in décor can be the perfect option for someone who feels that their home is dull needing a little spicing up. By adding in a few simple little patterns throughout rooms it can really brighten things up adding a little extra eye attraction then you had before.

Don’t feel that because something may not go along with the rest of the room it shouldn’t be included into the room. Who cares if you put a random cow print pillow on a bright red leather sofa? Even though some people may not think it goes with the room it does. By learning how to combine patterns in décor you can really open many doors to designing opportunities and allow yourself to become a little more inventive with your home. Stop thinking that everything needs to be similar as it doesn’t. Put floral with stripe or put dots with lines, it’s your home and if you love it that’s all that matters.
